Early Life and Career

Neil Fontaine was born in Brooklyn, New York, in 1942. He grew up in a poor neighborhood and dropped out of high school at the age of 16. Fontaine began his criminal career by selling stolen goods and marijuana. In the late 1950s, he moved to the Lower East Side of Manhattan and became involved in the drug trade.

Fontaine quickly rose through the ranks of the drug world. He was known for his ruthlessness and his ability to outsmart the police. By the early 1960s, Fontaine was one of the biggest drug dealers in New York City. He was supplying amphetamines to nightclubs, bars, and street dealers all over the city.

The Amphetamine Trade

Amphetamines were a popular drug in the 1960s and 1970s. They were used by students to stay awake and study, by truck drivers to stay alert on long hauls, and by partygoers to enhance their experience. Fontaine was one of the main suppliers of amphetamines to the New York City market.

Fontaine's amphetamines were produced in clandestine laboratories in California and Mexico. He would then transport the drugs to New York City in hidden compartments in cars and trucks. Fontaine's operation was so sophisticated that he was able to evade the police for years.

The Rise and Fall

Fontaine's drug empire reached its peak in the early 1970s. He was making millions of dollars a year and was living a lavish lifestyle. However, Fontaine's luck would not last forever. In 1973, he was arrested by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). He was convicted of drug trafficking and sentenced to 15 years in prison.

Fontaine served 10 years in prison before being released on parole in 1983. He returned to New York City and tried to rebuild his drug empire. However, he was never able to regain his former power. Fontaine was arrested again in 1990 and sentenced to another 10 years in prison. He was released from prison in 2000 and has been living a quiet life ever since.

Neil Fontaine's story is a cautionary tale about the dangers of drug abuse and the lengths that some people will go to in order to make a profit. Fontaine's drug empire was built on the suffering of others. He profited from the addiction of others and caused immeasurable harm to the community. Fontaine's story is a reminder that drug abuse is a serious problem and that it can have devastating consequences.
