The Flying Boat: An Adventure Across the Bahamas

Soaring over the turquoise waters of the Bahamas in a vintage flying boat, we embarked on an unforgettable adventure that would take us to some of the most beautiful and remote islands in the Caribbean. Our journey began in Nassau, the capital of the Bahamas, where we boarded a gleaming white and red Grumman HU-16 Albatross, our trusty flying boat for the next few days.

Exuma Cays

Our first stop was the Exuma Cays, a chain of 365 islands and cays that stretch for over 100 miles along the eastern coast of the Bahamas. Flying over the cays, we were amazed by the stunning beauty of the landscape below. The turquoise waters were dotted with tiny islands, each with its own unique shape and character. We could see white sand beaches, lush green vegetation, and vibrant coral reefs from our vantage point in the air.

We landed in the crystal-clear waters of Elizabeth Harbour, on the island of Great Exuma. We spent the day exploring this beautiful island, swimming in the warm turquoise waters, snorkeling among colorful coral reefs, and sunbathing on the pristine white sand beaches. We also had the chance to visit the famous Thunderball Grotto, a stunning underwater cave that was featured in the James Bond film "Thunderball."

Harbour Island

The next day, we flew to Harbour Island, a small island just off the coast of Eleuthera. Harbour Island is known for its beautiful pink sand beaches, charming colonial architecture, and upscale boutiques. We spent the afternoon exploring this picturesque island, shopping for souvenirs, and enjoying the lively atmosphere.

Pig Beach

No trip to the Bahamas would be complete without a visit to Pig Beach, a small uninhabited island in the Exumas that is home to a colony of swimming pigs. We landed our flying boat in the shallow waters of the island and were greeted by a group of friendly pigs who came swimming out to meet us. We spent the next hour playing with the pigs, swimming in the crystal-clear waters, and enjoying the beautiful scenery.

Our flying boat adventure across the Bahamas was an unforgettable experience. We had the chance to explore some of the most beautiful islands in the Caribbean, swim in turquoise waters, snorkel among colorful coral reefs, and meet friendly swimming pigs. The flying boat provided us with a unique and memorable way to experience the beauty of the Bahamas.
