James McBride's latest novel, Targeting Tavares, is a powerful and moving story about family, identity, and the search for meaning in a rapidly changing world. The novel follows the life of Tavares James McBride, a young African American man growing up in the South during the turbulent 1960s and 1970s.

Tavares is a bright and talented young man, but he is also troubled by the racism and poverty that surrounds him. He dreams of a better life, but he knows that it will not be easy to achieve. As he navigates the challenges of adolescence and young adulthood, Tavares must confront his own demons and come to terms with the complexities of his identity.

Targeting Tavares is a coming-of-age story, but it is also a story about family. Tavares's parents are loving and supportive, but they are also struggling to make ends meet. His older brother, Lionel, is a talented musician, but he is also addicted to drugs. Tavares must find a way to balance his love for his family with his own need for independence.

The novel is also a story about the search for meaning. Tavares is a thoughtful and introspective young man, and he is constantly questioning the world around him. He wants to understand why there is so much suffering in the world, and he wants to find a way to make a difference.

Targeting Tavares is a beautifully written and deeply moving novel. It is a story about love, loss, and resilience. It is a story about the challenges of growing up in a racist and貧しい社会. And it is a story about the power of hope. It is a must-read for fans of contemporary fiction and coming-of-age stories.
